San Miguel is a city in eastern El Salvador. It’s known for its huge San Miguel Carnival in November, honoring Nuestra Señora de la Paz (Our Lady of Peace). The red-steepled Catedral Basílica Nuestra Señora de la Paz is on central Parque David J. Guzmán. The active San Miguel Volcano, also called Chaparrastique, is southwest of the city.
