Snowdonia is a region in northwest Wales concentrated around the mountains and glaciers of massive Snowdonia National Park. In North Wales, at the very heart of Snowdonia, is the lovely village of Maentwrog, in the Vale of Ffestiniog. The grade II listed inn dates from the 17th Century. The Grapes Hotel is located in Blaenau Ffestiniog. The Grapes Hotel is one of the oldest and most famous coaching inns in Wales. Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways and Sygun Copper Mine are local landmarks, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Aberglaslyn Pass and Royal st David's Golf Club. The park's historic Snowdon Mountain Railway climbs to the summit of Wales's highest mountain, Mount Snowdon, offering views across the sea to Ireland. The park is also home to an extensive network of trails, over 100 lakes and craggy peaks like Cadar Idris and Tryfan.
