Tui Base Camp offers a range of different accommodation options from motel units and backpacker rooms to well maintained power and non power sites. You will also find a cafe, bar and supermarket just a short walk from your motel unit or backpacker room. Tui Base Camp offers the closest accommodation to the Hump Ridge Track a 60km circuit that starts and finishes at the western end of Te Waiwai Bay. Our Backpackers was built in 2004 and is a two storey building capable of sleeping up to 60 people at any time. Jet boating is also available in the districts lakes and rivers, this can be booked here. There are also any other tranquil bush walks available in Tuatapere, allowing you to experience the true Southland wilderness. Freedom and guided packages are available and on this walk you will see an abundance of wildlife including fur seals, dolphins and kea birds. Here at Tui Base Camp you can have a good night’s rest in warm, friendly, centrally located accommodation and enjoy the small township before enjoying the adventures the area offers. Our motel units are fully self contained and provide a clean and relaxed environment for you to enjoy. Located on our landscaped grounds is a mini golf park and a playground.
