JR茅野駅からバスに乗り、渋の湯バス停または麦草峠バス停から登山道を数時間歩いた場所に建つ、素朴で温かみのある雰囲気の山小屋。標高2,300mの原生林に囲まれた木造の外観が特徴的で、八ヶ岳登山の宿泊拠点として、通年営業する。天窓を備え、木の柱や梁を配した素朴な雰囲気の相部屋を提供する。羽毛布団とこたつ（冬季限定）を完備。小窓を備えた木の温かみあふれる和室の個室も用意する（最大定員7人）。薪 ストーブとランプを配したアットホームな雰囲気の食堂で、朝夕食や弁当を提供する（食事付きプランあり）。売店で軽食や飲料を販売。自炊も可能でテントを 張るキャンプ場を併設する。テーブルセットを複数備えた屋外テラスも備える。天体望遠鏡や双眼鏡を備え、スノーシューとクロスカントリースキーのレンタル もある。冬季は暖房費別途課金あり。.
